What is Sports Massage?
Sports massage is a deep form of soft tissue work that is applied to the muscles. A variety of techniques can be used such as effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, compressions and frictions. The main aim of sports massage is to help an individual achieve peak performance and injury free as well as supporting any healing injuries.
Who can benefit from Sports Massage?
Athletes, amateur athletes, sporty people, people who train regularly can all benefit from regular sports massage. However, sports massage is not just for sporting people. Most people can suffer from postural stress at some point this can be from physically active jobs or even sitting at a desk for a long period of time. Sports massage is also used to help maintain an individual's body such as back problems and to aid rehabilitation from either injury or post competition.
How can Sports Massage help?
Sports massage is able to improve the range of movement around a joint and increase flexibility and postural awareness, as it enables you to understand where the areas of soreness, tension and weaknesses are. Therefore will help the individual understand how their muscles work and how they may need to make adjustments to their training so their muscles work equally.
